Dear BGF CSA Members,

Whew! We've made it to September with a great crop thus far. We are very pleased with how our garden has produced (excuse the pun!) this year.  We hope you, too, are pleased and enjoying the goods. Get ready for a nice transition from summer to fall foods these next weeks.

Dear BGF CSA Members,

You have another great week of tomatoes. Get beyond using them in the basic salad. Enjoy a delicious tomato sandwich - a BLT or a Frisco (that's the ol' fashion grilled cheese with a slice of tomato). Maybe even try makinga fresh salsa, relish, soup, or stew. There is more than plenty of information on the internet to find some recipe that may tickle your taste buds.

Dear BGF CSA Members,

August is always a tremendously busy time on the farm. So many crops are ready all at once that it is sometimes difficult to decide which items will go in the box and which will have to wait until the following week.  But again, another great box! In fact, that is why we're late getting this letter out...we got a last minute treat - cantaloupes! And in our excited rush, there is a typo in the spelling of the word "cantaloupe" in our list of items for the week. Oops!

Dear BGF CSA Members,

August 1st! It seems summer has passed us by...the camps are over, sport practices begin, and the start of school is just around the corner. But wait! Let's not wollow in such thoughts yet. We have much more of the season to enjoy...at least at the table. We have a great box this week of some summer favorites. Enjoy!

Dear BGF CSA Members,

Alas! The rain dances are working! The fields look spectacular - fresh and green, just the way we like 'em!  And what pretty boxes we have this week - green, red, purple and yellow. Hooray, for summer sweet corn! It's finally here. Turn off the oven. Instead, grill and eat outdoors this week. Drink iced tea and watch butterflies dance. Enjoy!

Dear BGF CSA Members,

Refresh yourself, and stay "cool as a cucumber." Eat a few slices of one as a pick-me-up in the afternoon instead of drinking a soda - same effect without the calories or sugar. Or cut two slices and place them over closed eyelids to refresh and rid fatigue or puffiness from your eyes. Even try them as an alternative to lemons/limes in your drinks. Enjoy!

And...

keep on dancing for rain!
