Welcome to the blog.

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

Ironic, but appropriate...just as school has begun, we have a box of ABCs for you this week. Yes, arugula, broccoli, cabbage and carrots! Another week of summer veggies and a reappearance of a few spring items. Next week, you'll be delighted with an introduction to our fall line-up. But no matter the season, it's all fresh and all good at BGF.

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

What a great box we have this week.  Though you may think it contains all tomatoes, there is actually a nice variety of late summer vegetables. We hope you enjoy many of these items as they will be disappearing soon as we transition into fall vegetables. Click on Slow Roasted Tomatoes for an incredibly delicious recipe for tomatoes, which will help you move the masses if you're feeling overwhelmed by them.

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

Just as the summer days are dwindling down to the start of another school year, so too are a few of our summer crops. And just as we are on the brink of autumn weather, we offer two new items this week to complement a wonderful array of goodies. Enjoy!

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

We are now really feeling the brunt of the summer heat and lack of rain. Nonetheless, we have two new items for you this week - carrots and green bell peppers. We hope you are making the most of repeat items.  We know you may be feeling bored with some items, but trust us, come February you're gonna wish you had all these fresh summer veggies. So eat 'em up!

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

We made it to the mid-way point of our CSA season! Having started our season with a late-spring frost, we are pleased with how things have progressed. After all, we expect a lot from our crops and they have "produced" for us. We hope you are enjoying your summer feast to date. Here's to another great week, another great box, and another great nine-weeks.

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

Another nice summer variety box this week - keeping you healthy and fit with carb- and protein-rich foods!  And as we are now in the "dog days" of summer, and the kids are hot and bored, bring them inside...bring them in the kitchen...bring them in to help! Click here for some tips on Cooking With Your Kids. Often, kids are more apt to eat what they prepare.

If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the summer squash, don't be. This is what it is to eat with the seasons. You gorge on what is in season now, and desperately miss it in November and again in February. And as we only have so much room in our newsletter for our recipes, click here for our Zucchini Crisp. YUMMY!

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

We have a great "summer" box this week - full of cucumbers, green beans, and tomatoes! Oh, how we long for tomato sandwiches, cucumber salad, and fresh beans. And we have very yummy recipes we hope you'll try.  As we only have so much room in our newsletter for our recipes, click here for the Kale Chip recipe mentioned in the "From the Farmer" section.

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

This week, in our "Food for Thought" section, we discuss the sun. Perhaps if we start to mention the sun, it will make a grand reappearance and stay awhile. Let's hope anyway! We have a fun box this week with a few new items. And we provide two very easy and tasty dishes. To make a complete meal with either one of them, add some grilled chicken and dinner is served. Enjoy!

Dear Blue Goose Farm CSA Members,

If you are dripping wet, you're not alone. We are considering adding Weeds to the list of crops we harvest! Nonetheless, we have a delicious box this week with a "golden" surprise. And we have two great recipes for you to try. Perhaps with this long, holiday weekend coming up you can find a bit of time to get in the kitchen and have fun. If the parsley seems a bit much to handle fresh, consider drying it and storing it in a jar for future use. Happy eating!
